Cardano just saw whales dump more than 110 million ADA while active addresses plunged. Price already broke a key support. The next level looks shaky, and one more piece of news just landed that could tip the balance.

Financial market analysis from 13/10/2026. Market conditions may have changed since publication.

I still remember checking the charts last week and thinking Cardano looked steady enough. Then the numbers started rolling in. More than 110 million ADA left the wallets of large holders in just five days. Price slid roughly 15.7 percent over seven days and settled near 0.234. Active addresses dropped hard too. Suddenly the question on every trader’s mind became pretty clear: is a bigger drop still coming?

What the Recent Whale Activity Really Tells Us

Large holders do not move that much token by accident. When they reduce positions by more than 110 million ADA, the market feels it. At the reported price around 0.234 those tokens carried a notional value near 25.7 million dollars. Of course that figure does not reveal the exact prices at which the sales happened, yet the direction is unmistakable. Selling pressure arrived exactly when the token was testing a well-watched support zone.

I’ve watched these patterns before. Whales often distribute into strength or simply exit when conviction fades. In this case the timing lined up with a noticeable cooling in network participation. Daily active addresses fell from 27,248 down to 15,977. That is a 41.36 percent decline in a short window. Fewer wallets interacting with the chain usually means less organic demand to absorb the supply that large players are releasing.

The token already slipped below the 0.24 area that many charts had marked as important. Once that level gave way, attention shifted lower toward the 0.21 region. Nothing is guaranteed, of course. Markets can reverse on a single strong catalyst. Still, the combination of heavy whale selling and fading address activity leaves the short-term picture looking fragile.

Price Action and Key Levels Right Now

At the moment ADA trades near 0.234 after a 6.65 percent drop in the past day. Market capitalization sits around 8.78 billion dollars while 24-hour volume climbed to roughly 530 million dollars, a jump of more than 40 percent from the previous session. Higher volume during a decline often confirms that sellers remain in control.

Looking at the broader structure, the token recovered from June lows near 0.14 to 0.15 and printed a series of higher lows through September. That constructive pattern stalled under the 0.28 to 0.37 resistance zone. Immediate support now clusters between 0.22 and 0.23, with another layer near 0.20. On the upside, 0.25 to 0.28 remains the area that needs to be reclaimed before the recovery story regains strength.

Some analysts point to an ascending channel whose lower boundary sits close to 0.21. Others prefer slightly different reference points and see support between 0.224 and 0.240. The slight differences do not change the overall message. Price has lost the first line of defense and the next ones are clearly in view.

Momentum Indicators Are Flashing Caution

Technical tools currently paint a picture of fading upside energy. The Know Sure Thing reading sits at 120.46 while its signal line rests higher at 163.52. Both numbers remain positive, yet the downward slope and bearish crossover show that buying pressure has cooled. The Awesome Oscillator still holds a thin positive reading near 0.0065, but the histogram bars are shrinking. Momentum is not yet negative, yet it is clearly losing steam.

In my view these readings matter more when they line up with on-chain selling. A single indicator can be noisy. When several point the same direction and large holders are simultaneously reducing exposure, the probability of further downside rises. Traders watching the daily chart also note negative MACD momentum and clusters of liquidations overhead between 0.258 and 0.262. Those pockets can act as magnets if price tries to bounce.

Surprising Strength in Transaction Counts

Here is where the story gets interesting. While daily active addresses declined, the network itself processed a record number of transactions. During Epoch 660 the chain handled 1,780,896 transactions between early and mid-October. That figure beat the previous high of 1,566,974 set back in late 2021. Average transactions per block reached 83.83 and total fees collected came in around 337,720 ADA.

Average fee per transaction sat near 0.19 ADA, roughly five cents at current prices. The surge coincided with governance voting involving Delegated Representatives. Proposals under discussion included adjustments to minimum costs for stake pool operators. Voting activity almost certainly contributed to the elevated count, yet the data does not isolate the exact share. What matters is that the chain demonstrated capacity even while the number of unique active wallets contracted.

This contrast is worth sitting with for a moment. Transaction volume can stay elevated when a smaller group of wallets becomes more active, especially during governance periods. Address activity, by contrast, measures broader participation. The two metrics can diverge, and right now they are telling slightly different stories. One shows the infrastructure working well. The other hints that everyday user interest has cooled.

The Cardano Card Closure Adds Another Layer

On the product side, the Cardano Card program confirmed it will discontinue existing payment services on October 31. The partner providing the custodial infrastructure is shifting to a non-custodial model, which ends the current arrangement. Cards will keep working until the cutoff date. Affected customers have been asked to contact the team and wait for further instructions.

The service launched after a partnership announced in late 2025. It allowed eligible users to spend ADA and other supported assets through conventional payment networks. For a time it offered a practical bridge between the Cardano ecosystem and everyday spending. Its planned closure removes one visible consumer-facing product, at least temporarily. No replacement provider or new launch timeline has been shared yet.

I do not see this development as catastrophic on its own. Many blockchain projects experiment with payment cards and later adjust or sunset them. Still, the timing lands poorly. When whales are already selling and address activity is soft, the loss of a spending product can reinforce the sense that progress on the consumer side has slowed.

Putting the Pieces Together

So where does that leave the outlook? Whale selling of more than 110 million ADA created clear supply pressure. The drop in daily active addresses suggests fewer new participants are stepping in to absorb that supply. Price has already broken the first support near 0.24 and now eyes the zone around 0.21. Momentum indicators lean cautious rather than outright bearish, yet they are not offering strong support either.

At the same time the network just set a five-day transaction record. That fact should not be ignored. It shows that core infrastructure continues to handle elevated activity without friction. Governance participation appears healthy. Those elements provide a longer-term foundation even if short-term price action remains under pressure.

Perhaps the most useful way to frame the current moment is as a test of conviction. Large holders have reduced exposure. Retail participation measured by active addresses has cooled. Price sits near multi-month lows relative to its earlier recovery path. Against that backdrop any meaningful rebound will need either a clear catalyst or a visible shift in on-chain behavior.

What Traders Are Watching Next

Several concrete levels and metrics stand out in the coming sessions. First, whether the 0.22 to 0.23 zone can hold as temporary support. A clean break lower would open the path toward 0.21 and potentially the 0.20 area. Second, any recovery in daily active addresses would signal that participation is stabilizing. Third, volume behavior on any bounce will matter. Strong volume on the upside would carry more weight than a low-volume drift.

On the fundamental side, clarity around the payment card transition could remove one source of uncertainty. Updates on governance outcomes or new development milestones might also help sentiment. None of these factors guarantee a reversal. They simply represent the levers that could shift the current balance of supply and demand.

  • Monitor the 0.22–0.23 support cluster closely
  • Watch for any rebound in daily active addresses
  • Track volume characteristics on potential relief rallies
  • Note further large-holder wallet movements
  • Follow developments related to the payment card wind-down

I’ve found that periods like this often separate opportunistic buyers from those who prefer to wait for clearer signals. Neither approach is inherently wrong. Risk tolerance and time horizon determine the better path for each participant. What feels consistent across most successful approaches is respect for the data rather than emotional attachment to any single narrative.

Longer-Term Context Still Matters

Stepping back from the daily noise, Cardano remains far below its historical peak near 3.09. The current valuation sits roughly 92 percent under that high-water mark. Such deep drawdowns are not unusual in crypto cycles, yet they also mean that any sustained recovery would start from a relatively compressed base.

The network’s ability to process a record number of transactions during a period of reduced address activity demonstrates technical resilience. Governance mechanisms continue to function. Those building blocks have not disappeared simply because price has corrected. In my experience markets eventually reprice assets according to both narrative and underlying activity. When the two diverge for a time, price often adjusts until they realign.

Whether that realignment happens through further downside that attracts new demand or through a stabilization that allows participation to rebuild is the open question. The recent whale selling has tilted the near-term odds toward continued pressure. The record transaction count and intact infrastructure keep the longer-term case alive.

Balancing Caution With Perspective

It is easy to fixate on the 110 million ADA figure and conclude that more selling must follow. Large holders can stop reducing positions just as quickly as they started. Address activity can stabilize. Price can find buyers at lower levels. None of these outcomes is certain, yet none is impossible either.

What feels more reliable is the observation that multiple independent signals currently lean cautious. Whale distribution, declining active addresses, broken short-term support, and fading momentum indicators form a coherent picture. The counterweight is the healthy transaction throughput and ongoing governance process. Holding both sides of that ledger in mind seems wiser than leaning too hard on either extreme.

For anyone following the token, the coming weeks should clarify whether the recent selling wave has run its course or whether further redistribution still lies ahead. The charts will show the path more clearly than any single headline. Until then the prudent stance remains one of measured observation rather than strong conviction in either direction.

Final Thoughts on the Current Setup

Cardano finds itself at an interesting crossroads. Heavy selling by large holders has pushed price below a previously respected support. Network participation measured by active addresses has cooled noticeably. Momentum tools have lost their earlier strength. At the same time the chain itself just handled a record volume of transactions and continues to process governance decisions.

That combination produces a mixed but mostly cautious short-term outlook. The 0.21 area has become the next reference point for many watchers. Whether price reaches it or stabilizes higher will depend on the balance between remaining sell-side pressure and any fresh demand that appears. The payment card closure adds a modest layer of uncertainty on the product side without altering the core technical picture.

I’ve watched enough of these episodes to know that clarity often arrives later than expected. In the meantime the data points already on the table provide a solid foundation for informed decisions. Whale activity, address trends, transaction counts, and price structure all deserve continued attention. Together they will reveal whether the recent weakness marks a temporary pause or the start of a deeper move.

For now the market has spoken through the 110 million ADA sold and the subsequent price action. The next chapters will be written by whatever follows in the days and weeks ahead. Staying close to the evolving numbers remains the most practical way to navigate the uncertainty.
